We Came As Romans aka WCAR are metalcore/hardcore masters who on this night, filled the Nile Theater to it’s maximum capacity with a mass of rabid metal fans, thus unequivocally proving that metalcore music is still alive and well. I’ve attended countless metal shows at the Nile Theater and from my experience, this show is definitely one that would be up for a “Filled to Capacity” award if there was such an award.

WCAR gave the Nile Theater an engaging and commanding 14 song set song with 2 encore songs, all of which had the audience singing, pumping fists and crowd surfing throughout their show. Singer David Stephens engaged the audience throughout their set by giving some back stories to their music as well as thanking the fans for continuing to support WCAR and keeping metal music alive.

The band ripped through a crushing set that included nine songs from their latest 2022 release Darkbloom, starting with the opening song, “Daggers” that immediately electrified the audience. The other songs from Darkbloom were, “Golden, The Anchor, One More Day, Doublespeak, Plagued, Darkbloom, and Black Hole” respectively. The other LPs represented on this show were their 2013 release Tracing Back Roots with “Fade Away, Hope and Tracing Back Roots” and from their highly successful 2017 release, Cold Like War, the band brought forth killer versions of “Cold Like War, Learning To Survive, Lost in the Moment and Wasted Age”.

Attending a WCAR concert is the gathering of one big family of fans with the band unleashing a little over one hour of non-stop-in-your-face music and a concert that is definitely not to be missed. If you’re not yet familiar with WACR get out to see these guys and join in on the audience sing along, crowd surfing and just having a night of killer fun. I highly recommend that you get to the venue early or you’ll find yourself stuffed at the back of the venue by the merch booths.
